EUR: Mario Drahi on the wires
The ECB President Mario Draghi said on Wednesday in an interview to French Europe 1 radio that:
- The ECB would maintain an easy policy stance for an extended time, until the euro zone inflation climbs back towards the 2% target level.
- The ECB “whatever it takes to safeguard the euro”.
- There’s no risk deflation in the euro area, but there’s the risk of “too low” inflation.
- The biggest problem currently is the still excessively elevated unemployment.
