Alphabet is the new name of Google
Google Inc. is going to be restructured into an entirely new umbrella company called Alphabet. Google’s co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin will retain control over the business: Page will serve as CEO for the company, as he does for Google now, and Brin will take on the role of president.
The URL of the new company is abc.xyz.
All shareholders will get one Alphabet share for each share of Google they own.
Alphabet includes the following entities:
- The smaller company called Google, managed by CEO Sundar Pichai, which will include the main businesses of the corporation: search, advertising, maps, applications, YouTube and Android, as well as the corresponding technical infrastructure.
- Other businesses, such as Calico, Nest and Fiber and their investment resources Google Ventures and Google Capital; business incubator projects like Google X which will be managed separately from Google business.
