US dollar weakened on lower data

US data released today is disappointing. American retail sales added only 0.2% in August (forecast: 0.5%), while the core reading increased by only 0.1% (forecast: 0.3%). The nation’s Producer Price Index came a bit higher than expected, but the core PPI remained unchanged last month.  

EUR/USD jumped to $1.3121. GBP/USD reached $1.5865. USD/JPY slid today from levels just below 100.00 to 99.35.

The next important release is at 13:55 GMT (Preliminary University of Michigan consumer sentiment).
