Japan: economic outlook improved

On Monday the Japanese government upgraded its assessment of the economy as signs of exports and factory output growth confirmed that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's aggressive polices are beginning to bear fruits. According to the government's monthly report released by the Cabinet Office, the economy is gradually recovering.

The government's report came ahead of the Bank of Japan's policy decision to be announced on Wednesday. Monetary policy is widely expected to remain unchanged.
