CFTC: USD bets turned short
According to the latest Commitments of Traders (COT) report, large speculators turned bearish on the US dollar on Oct. 8 and then registered three straight weeks of bearish positions through Oct. 22. As of Oct. 22, their net short US dollar position was at $3.64 billion. This is the lowest level since February 5 2013 when USD short bets were at $9.15 billion. The large non-commercial net positions on Oct. 22 showed weekly increases for the EUR, GBP, CHF, CAD, AUD and NZD while there was a decline for JPY.
This bunch of CFTC data (three releases for Oct. 8, 15 & 22), is a catch up for the missed releases during the government shutdown and does not cover last week’s positions.
