Japan wholesale prices dip 4.2% year-on-year
Japanese wholesale prices edged down 4.2% in the year to June. That’s what the country’s number one financial institution, the Bank of Japan revealed on Tuesday.
The evident dip in the corporate goods price index or simply CGPI, traditionally measuring the price firms and companies charge each other for their services and goods, compares with the median forecast for a 4.2% annual slump and also follows a 4.3% annual dip in May.
As for overall final goods prices or in other words the prices of finished products charged to businesses, they edged down 3.7% from a year earlier.
Domestic final goods prices, loosely tracking the consumer price index, dared to drop 1.2% from the previous year.
As for details, they were as follows - financial analysts considered preliminary, with percentage change data. Economists' median forecast in parentheses was considered too, while previous figures might be revised if required.
