Australia stocks go up at close of trade

On Wednesday, Australia stocks traded higher as gains in the Healthcare, IT and and Consumer Discretionary sectors brought stocks higher.

At the close in Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 managed to gain 0.62% to hit a fresh 6-months peak.

As for the best performers of the trading session on the S&P/ASX 200, we should mention Programmed Maintenance Services Ltd with its 4.86% soar, hitting 1.725 at the close. At the same time, Sirtex Medical Ltd gained 4.11%, reaching 31.400, while Metcash Ltd grew 4.02%, trading at 2.070.

The worst performers of the trading session included Cimic Group Ltd with its 19.38% descend, trading at 26.840 at the close. Besides this, Independence Group NL slumped 7.08%, reaching 3.940, while Western Areas Ltd decreased 4.80%, trading at 2.580.

Rising shares outnumbered dropping ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 656 to 423, while 307 ended intact.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, measuring the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, descended 3.15% to 14.368, which is a fresh 3-months minimum.
