Australia stocks soar at close

On Thursday, Australian shares traded higher after the close as revenues in the A-REITs, Energy as well as Consumer Staples sectors brought stocks higher.  

The S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.26% at the close in Australia.

The best performers of the S&P/ASX 200 trading session were Downer Edi Ltd, which surged 7.69%, trading at 4.480. Meanwhile, Bellamys Australia gained up to 7.48%, being worth 13.370, while Santos Ltd ascended 6.74%, hitting 4.590 during late trade.

As for the worst performers of the trading session, we should point out to Saracen Mineral Holdings Ltd with its 3.37% drop at 1.792. Then, St Barbara Ltd slumped 3.08%, trading at 3.150, while Japara Fpo headed south 2.69%, trading at 2.530.

Soaring stocks outnumbered dipping ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 654 to 411, while 339 ended intact.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, measuring the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, sank 4.30% at 15.541.

AUD/USD gained 0.26%, being worth 0.7609, while AUD/JPY surged 0.55% at 77.25.
